Get started with FormMail Hub
This guide takes you from installing the add-on to receiving your first submission alert. It takes about five minutes and works on the Free plan.
1. Install and connect a form
Section titled “1. Install and connect a form”- Install FormMail Hub from the Google Workspace Marketplace.
- Open your form in Google Forms™ (or its responses spreadsheet in Google Sheets™) and start the add-on: the puzzle-piece Add-ons icon in Google Forms, or Extensions in Google Sheets.
- Open the FormMail Hub dashboard from the sidebar.
The first editor of a form who connects it becomes the form’s admin. Only the admin can change its settings. See Team members.
2. Turn on submission alerts
Section titled “2. Turn on submission alerts”When a form has no submissions yet, the Submission Notifications page shows a short checklist titled Waiting for your first submission.
- Turn on notifications, tick who should receive them (you and any verified team members), then click Save Configuration.
- Click Open form. The button stays locked until step 1 is saved, so your test is never lost.
- Submit a test response.
Within about a minute you receive an email with the answers, and the checklist disappears.
Submission alerts are sent by FormMail Hub’s own mail server, so they work before you connect any email account.
3. Send emails to respondents (optional)
Section titled “3. Send emails to respondents (optional)”To send your own templates, such as a confirmation email to the person who filled in the form, connect an email account first:
- Connect your SMTP and send the test email. This is free on every plan.
- Create a template.
- Create a rule that sends the template to the respondent’s email field.
